The blue wave did not materialize. While the Democrats regained control of the House, they could not record massive gains nor win the Senate.
What’s worse, in the biggest national headline-grabbing states, the Democrats lost. Ted Cruz won in Texas, Ron DeSantis won in Florida, Shawn Kemp is on the cusp of winning in Georgia, Krysten Sinema will likely lose in Arizona, and Rick Scott won in Florida.
It gets worse for the Democrats when you factor in former President Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey. Obama lost four races that he personally campaigned in, and Oprah could not sway the vote in Georgia.
So, with all that being said, how are the markets performing in the aftermath of the 2018 midterm elections?
Investors appear to be breathing a sigh of relief that Democrats did not win more seats.
