Representative-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is at it again.
In attempt to justify her $42 trillion spending plan, the democratic socialist pointed out a Nation report that suggested the Pentagon has spent $21 trillion between 1998 and 2015 that “could not be traced, documented, or explained.”
Without applying any independent thought or analysis, she pounced on the news and told the world, “See! See! Like, here’s where we could, like, pay for my spending plan!”
She tweeted:

$21T in Pentagon accounting errors. Medicare for All costs ~$32T.
That means 66% of Medicare for All could have been funded already by the Pentagon.

The problem with the report?
The Department of Defense has spent roughly $18 trillion since 1789, and the $21 trillion references transfers back-and-forth between accounts, which means $1 would be counted thousands of times. This doesn’t mean $21 trillion was wasted, though you could make the case that the militarism of the last 60 years has been misspent.
Or, put another way, a department that has a $400 billion budget cannot spend $21 trillion.
Then again, this is the same woman who said the Pentagon got a $700 billion budget increase.

Life is meaningless now that everything is illegal, hard work is punished with taxes and regulations, laziness is rewarded with welfare, the USA has become a ghetto overrun with 3rd world immigrants, and the US is an immoral bankrupt warmongering police state.
