Sad!
Most Americans want young men and women to stay in Syria, says a new poll as President Donald Trump withdraws troops from the country.
According to results of The Hill-HarrisX study, 59 percent of registered voters favor keeping U.S. forces in Syria. The survey further revealed that more than one-third (35 percent) say the U.S. military should stay in Syria because they don’t think ISIS has been defeated.
Get this: nearly one-quarter (24 percent) say U.S. should keep troops in Syria even if ISIS has been defeated. Did the pollsters continually phone Senator Lindsey Graham’s home?
There was an interesting development, though minor. More older voters favored keeping troops in Syria compared to young people. However, most voters between 18 and 34 wanted troops to stay in Syria (when are they going to volunteer?).
“There is a majority of the American public that feels, for whatever reason, that American troops are still needed in Syria,” Mallory Newall, research director at Ipsos Public Affairs, said Thursday on “What America’s Thinking,” Hill.TV’s show about public opinion.
“What’s really interesting about this poll is that there’s bipartisan support for this. Democrats and Republicans are virtually the same on this.”
So both parties are warmongers? Nice!
