News Story of the Day: If the reports are true, then it could achieve what President Donald Trump wants.
According to Bloomberg, China is offering to purchase $1 trillion a year in U.S. goods over the next six years. By buying this much US imports, the world’s second-largest economy would reduce the trade gap from $323 billion today to zero by 2024.
The market is jubilant by the reports, sending the Dow Jones to triple-digit gains. However, officials and negotiators are skeptical that such a deal would be made. This comes one day after Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin suggested that Washington could ease tariffs on Beijing.
Chart of the Day: When Donald Trump first ran for president, he railed against his opponents and past administrations for their use of lobbyists. He always claimed that he would never use them, even eventually signing an executive order that freezes lobbyists for five years after they served in public office.

Quote of the Day: If there is one thing you learn about social media and modern-day cable news, it’s that a lot of people have no clue what they’re talking about. William F. Buckley had this to say about that:
“I won’t insult your intelligence by suggesting that you really believe what you just said.”
Tweet of the Day: The problem with the left and political observers right now is that they think everything was civil, intelligent, and scandal-free prior to President Trump. Every single president, congressman, senator, and pundit was a peach. Either they’re lying or they don’t know much.

Video of the Day: When will CNN and other the rest of the mainstream press quit relying on BuzzFeed for journalism? The website specializes in “10 Things White People Need to Quite Using” and “10 Disney Princesses You Look Like,” but not real journalism.
Case in point, the breaking news that President Trump ordered Michael Cohen to lie because of a development in Russia. The media went all out in this story, but it turns out that everything hinges on two anonymous sources.
