January isn’t over yet, but the Counterfeit News Network probably wishes it would come to an end already.
It’s been horrible for the alleged news company.
Let’s see what the channel has done now.
North Korea Celebrates 2019
CNN kicked off 2019 with good old-fashioned news manipulation, or, in other words, fake news (SEE: CNN kicks off 2019 with fake news).
To welcome the new year, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un delivered an upbeat message about U.S.-North Korea relations and regional developments. Instead of sporting stereotypical dictatorship garb, Kim wore a business suit.
This did not make CNN happy. You don’t like it when CNN is unhappy.
Rather than report on the story as it was, CNN had two questionable headlines: “Kim Jong Un says North Korea isn’t making nukes, warns US on sanctions” and “Kim Jong Un warns US in New Year’s address.” It also used a file photo image of Kim rather than the image of him wearing corporate wear.
Black Man Has White Privilege
A little more than a week later, one of its personalities, Areva Martin, appeared on David Webb’s radio show, in which she accused him of having white privilege. He’s a black man.
He tore into her:
“Areva, I hate to break it to you, but you should have been better prepped. I’m black … See, you went to white privilege. This is the falsehood in this. You went immediately with an assumption … You’re talking to a black man who started out in rock radio in Boston, who crossed the paths into hip-hop, rebuilding one of the greatest black stations in America, and went on to work for Fox News, where I’m told apparently blacks aren’t supposed to work, but yet you come with this assumption and you go to white privilege. That’s actually insulting!”
Supoib.
Just a Salad
Around the same time, CNN was in an uproar because President Donald Trump dared to make a salad joke. For some reason, they took this quip as sexist.
Erin Burnett had this to say:
“Sometimes what people say when they’re being funny exposes exactly who they are and what they think. Not that there was any question, but this is pretty clear.
…
I’m not over-reading it. He made a joke that was sexist about woman. I guess maybe what we’re disagreeing with is whether it’s funny and whether humor is something that’s serious.”
What happened to Burnett?

BuzzFeed is Fake News
CNN has not been this disappointed since the last breaking news story was going to impeach President Trump or force him to resign. You know, that story that comes out every week and turns out to be fake news.
Well, this happened again.
BuzzFeed reported that Trump ordered his former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, to lie to Congress about a real estate development project in Russia (SEE: Random Friday: China trade, lobbyists, CNN/BuzzFeed), even when the Pulitzer-prize winning reporter revealed he never saw the evidence. This initiated wall-to-wall coverage on all the leading networks, including CNN. All day, the anchors discussed impeachment with glee.
When Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s office issued the rare public statement to call the reports “not accurate,” CNN and its allies started to cry.
Chris Cuomo said Mueller “didn’t do the media any favors,” Jeffrey Toobin thinks this will increase the allegations that the press are a bunch of leftists, and Brian Stelter noted that this facilitates the worst stereotypes of the news media.
Indeed!
Catholic Students Bully Native American
This was truly a study in fake news because the media had a certain narrative in mind, made it go viral, and then it turned out to be untrue.
Over the weekend, a video went viral that showed a group of Catholic high school students harassing a Native American protester who looked like he was minding his own business playing a drum. This bullying spawned widespread condemnation and many wanted to destroy the lives of these kids.
But it turned out it wasn’t true.
The Daily Wire’s Emily Zanotti provides an excellent synopsis of what went down:
The three-minute video was posted online by a group of Native American protesters who claimed they were harassed and intimidated by a group of Covington Catholic High School students waiting for their bus near the Lincoln Memorial. The video is heavily clipped at the beginning and end, and shows only an apparent “confrontation” between a protester named Nathan Phillips and a Make America Great Again-hat wearing teen.
…
Saturday night, a two-hour long, full video of the confrontation became widely available on social media, and that video shows a very different interaction than the one initally portrayed. The video, taken from the point of view of a second group of protesters who witnessed the interaction, shows that Phillips approached the teens — not the other way around, as Phillips claims — and that the teens were relatively peaceful during the incident, laughing and clapping along with Phillips’ drumming, and occasionally asking questions like, “what is going on here?”
The video also seems to show that the Covington High School kids were the victims of racial slurs: the group that recorded the video, a group called Black Hebrew Israelites, called the students “fa***ts,” Reason’s Robby Soave — who has done one of the most comprehensive investigations on the incident — reports.
…
The extended video also shows multiple students filming the interaction, so more video is guaranteed to appear. Phillips has continued to do interviews, smearing the students.
Late Sunday, major media organizations like the Associated Press and The New York Times finally began to call their initial stories on the incident into question.
This story is everywhere all over the world, but it has died down since it turned out to be wrong.
Is there any wonder why trust in the mainstream media is at an all-time low?
There’s still a week and change left in the month. We’ll see if more fake news will be reported.
