For the first time in 70 years, the U.S. will be a net energy exporter, no longer relying on foreign oil to power the country.
According to the Energy Information Administration (EIA), the U.S. will export more energy products than it imports, dominated by domestic crude production. But the world’s largest economy will also see its shipments of natural gas and petroleum products (propane, ethane, and butane) balloon over the next decade.
What’s fascinating about the report is that it has slashed its forecast for when it could achieve energy independence. Last year, it prognosticated 2022, and the year before it listed 2026.
Today, American businesses are producing about 11 million barrels per day (bpd), the most since the 1970s. Even this is expected to grow as output is estimated to top 14 million bpd.
Another compelling part of the report is Texas.
There are only two other parts of the world that are producing more than Texas: Russia and Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Texas, Saudi America.
