Margaret Hoover is no William F. Buckley.
For the most part, the return of “Firing Line” has been bland, though there have been some fun parts, like Hoover’s interview with Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).
Hoover’s recent sitdown with Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA) will go down as one of those fun moments.
Channeling Buckley’s spirit, Hoover asked Swalwell: “Are you allergic to saying anything positive about Trump?”
The two discussed Swalwell’s obsession with Russia, the national economy, and polarization. Ostensibly, Swalwell thinks Moscow hacked the election, the economy is a disaster, and before 2016, the U.S. was never divided.
Here are a couple of clips:

Swalwell has always been a hysterical congressman (SEE: Scary: Democrats willing to go to war with Russia) and (SEE: Eric Swalwell ‘dares’ Trump to declassify documents – claims it’s ‘lawless’ when he does). Of course, who could forget when he said to a gun rights advocate, “And it would be a short war my friend. The government has nukes. Too many of them. But they’re legit. I’m sure if we talked we could find common ground to protect our families and communities.”
As Buckley said, “I won’t insult your intelligence by suggesting that you really believe what you just said.”
