What should you make of the Italian populists? They’re a mixed bag at best.
Sure, they have taken on the establishment, but they are imposing their own crazy policies, like handing out free money.
Their latest proposal is an interesting one, though.
Italy’s populist de facto leader Matteo Salvini: abolish the central bank, eliminate the nation’s financial regulator, and seize control of Italy’s gold reserves from the central bank.
“The gold is the property of the Italian people, not of anyone else,” he told The Financial Times.
“My bill only aims at making clear that the gold belongs to the state, not to the government. If there are doubts on our intentions, we can also pass another law saying none of the gold reserves can be sold unless there is a majority of two thirds or more of both houses of Parliament.”
Of course, that’s the primary concern anyone should have: the government selling bullion to fund their big government programs. If he wanted to remove all doubt, then he should pass a law that says none of the gold reserves can be sold.
Economic adviser of Salvini and Eurosceptic League member of parliament, Claudio Borghi, also confirmed that Rome does not “want to sell the ingots, in fact, quite the opposite, we want to prevent others from having their hands on it.”
Italy is embroiled in political turmoil and the early stages of a full-blown financial crisis as it goes to war with the European Union.
One problem with collapse is that no one can avoid it.
No one will be able to opt-out or flee because the result will be everywhere. No one will be able to escape the chaos, riots, starvation, the nuclear bombs, and being forced to go to the concentration camps.

Do Americans who think that they can survive tyranny by being white realize that whatever they allow the government to do to others will eventually be done to them?
