The state of Texas is making history in the world of crude oil.
Last year, the Lone Star State produced the most barrels of oil drilled in a single year, says the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO) in its 2019 State of Energy Report.
According to the report, Texas produced 1.54 billion barrels, beating the 1973 record of 1.28 billion barrels.
This is a whopping number, considering that North Dakota, the second-largest state in oil output levels, recorded a production figure of 443 million barrels.
Texas will soon bypass Iran and Iraq on the list of oil-producing jurisdictions. Ostensibly, the state will sit behind just Russia and Saudi Arabia.
The news is great for President Donald Trump and Texas politicians because the industry employs nearly half of the nation’s industry total with more than 352,000 jobs.
