Well, it’s official: former Republican governor and 2016 Libertarian vice presidential candidate William Weld is running for president in 2020 … as a Republican.
Weld is trying to become the GOP nominee, effectively ousting President Donald Trump. He will likely fail in his quest to be a boring, dry, and unsubstantive status quo candidate for the chief occupant inside the White House.
So, why is Weld running for the Republican nomination?
From Mr. Bill “I’m here vouching for Mrs. Clinton” Weld:
“I’m here because I think our country is in grave peril, and I cannot sit quietly on the sidelines any longer. … I encourage those of you who are watching the current administration nervously but saying nothing to stand up and speak out when lines are crossed in dangerous ways. We cannot sit passively as our precious democracy slips quietly into darkness.”
Talk about hyperbole.
First, the U.S. is not a democracy; it’s a Republic.
Second, despite the president emboldening the swamp and tergiversating on policies he was elected on, the country is not in grave peril.
Third, Weld has no shot.
Fourth, didn’t Weld claim he wanted to run a Libertarian and help the party succeed in the future? That was a lie.
Fifth, here is Weld’s campaign that will be full of cliches: fiscally conservative and socially liberal.
Sixth, if he is lagging in the polls (which he most likely will), will he return to the LP?
Here is Weld’s boring, dry, and unsubstantive speech:
Free Speech Message Board says
Americans must start making sacrifices to restore freedom like the founding fathers did or Americans will end up in concentration camps soon.
