Finally! We can stop the presses and run with this headline: Hillary Clinton is NOT running for president.
…
But the door isn’t closed.
Consarnit!
The former Secretary of State confirmed earlier this week that she will not be running for president in 2020, but assured everyone that she’s ‘not going anywhere.”
When asked again by a local news reporter, it sounded like the door was open for a third attempt at the White House.
“I’m not running, but I’m going to keep on working and speaking and standing up for what I believe,” Clinton told News 12 Long Island.
In an environment where every word is analyzed, would it be too much trouble to just say, “No, I am not running for president. I have no intention of running for president. And you will never see my name on a ballot ever again.”
That is how you deny running for president.
Then there is this tweet from New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman:
“Spoke to someone close with Clinton in contact with her today. They say she wasn’t trying to be emphatic and close the door on running when she spoke to a local reporter yesterday, and that she was surprised by how definitively it played.
The person also says she is extremely unlikely to run, but that she remains bothered that she’s expected to close the door on it when, say, John Kerry isn’t. She has told her team she is waiting at least to see the Mueller report.”
The Clinton drama will continue to unfold until Election Day, when there will be reports that she is only hours away from throwing her name in the hat because the Democratic nominee is not good enough to oust President Donald Trump.
