News Story of the Day: President Donald Trump is attacking the Federal Reserve again.
Speaking in an interview with the Fox Business Network, he complained that gross domestic product would have topped four percent if the United States central bank hit the pause button on interest rates a lot sooner.
“If we didn’t have somebody raising interest rates and do quantitative tightening we would have been over 4 [percent] instead of at 3.1 [percent]. The world is slowing, but we’re not slowing.”
On Wednesday, the Fed said that it plans to raise interest rates just once in 2019 and it does not have any intentions of a rate hike in 2020. Fed Chair Jerome Powell already told the media that Trump’s constantly rebuking of rate hikes did not contribute to its decision to cease rate hikes.
“I hope I didn’t influence them, frankly,” Trump told the network. “But it doesn’t matter, I don’t care if I influenced them or not. One thing is, I was right. We would have been over 4 [percent] if they didn’t do all the interest rate hikes.”
Chart of the Day: Can you time the market? It is possible, especially if you participate in event trading, but if you have limited capital it is best not to. Here is a chart that looks at how dangerous timing the market can be:
Illustration of the Day: If you are a white man in this political climate, then you might as well just call yourself Adolf Hitler. This was evident during the 2016 Republican primaries, when leftists kept complaining about rich white men on the debate stage. But leftists are perfectly OK with this if you’re a bleeding socialist.
Quote of the Day: Legendary journalist Ted Koppel has been rather critical of the mainstream media in the age of President Donald Trump. While hardly a stalwart of libertarianism or anti-statism, Koppel’s analysis of the press since Trump enter the White House has been spot on.
He recently sat down for a talk at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace with journalist Marvin Kalb.
He had this to say about the news media and its handling of the president:
We are not the reservoir of objectivity that I think we were. We have things appearing on the front page of the New York Times right now that never would have appeared 50 years ago. Analysis, commentary on the front page.
I remember sitting at the breakfast table with my wife during the campaign after the Access Hollywood tape came out and the New York Times, and I will not offend any of you here by using the language but you know exactly what words were used and they were spelled out on the front page of the New York Times. I turned to my wife and I said the Times is absolutely committed to making sure that this guy does not get elected.
So his perception that the establishment press is out to get him doesn’t mean that great journalism is not being done. It is. But the notion that most of us look upon Donald Trump as being an absolute fiasco, he’s not mistaken in that perception and he’s not mistaken when so many of the liberal media, for example, described themselves as belonging to the Resistance.
He concluded by noting that journalists think Trump is bad for America, and so they are using their bias in their reportage.
Tweet of the Day: Robert Mueller is about to release his report on President Donald Trump, Russia, and the 2016 election. So far, early speculation is there it’s one big nothing-burger that will not do anything to Trump – much to the chagrin of leftists. It is inevitable that someone in the media will claim that Mueller is a Kremlin agent who has been compromised by President Vladimir Putin.
Someone should start a pool on who will be the first person on cable news to insinuate this: https://t.co/l0Ky58MZqz

Video of the Day: Beto O’Rourke is like a character from those goofy motion pictures about some stoner or maroon who accidentally runs for president, using empty platitudes and vague remarks to woo voters. In this process, he learns about himself and the mistakes he made – allowing him to become president. This clip from the Free Beacon perfectly illustrates who Beto is – and the media is beginning to learn that their privileged white male has been let out of the box!
