The Economist had been a dependable publication for years, serving as a neutral magazine with tremendous business, financial, and economic insight. This changed a few years ago, leaning more towards the left when it came to dissecting policy and reporting the news.
It has gotten so bad that the magazine now thinks anyone right of Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is alt-right.
Don’t believe it?
On Thursday, the publication ran this description of Ben Shapiro: “The alt-right sage without the rage.” That’s fake news.
Shapiro has denounced the alt-right and is detested by the alt-right. Even in the book he was interviewed on, “The Right Side of History,” Shapiro slams the alt-right.
When The Economist got called out by conservative Twitter, the magazine went with an even more bizarre headline: “Inside the Mind of Ben Shapiro, a Radical Conservative.”
What exactly makes Shapiro radical? He essentially espouses the principles of iconic conservative thinkers, such as William F. Buckley, Milton Friedman, Thomas Sowell, and former President Donald Reagan. How is this radical?
Perhaps the rag thinks he’s radical because he is not of the conservative variety of Mitt Romney or Paul Ryan.
This sums it up perfectly:
How does a major news magazine not know what constitutes “alt-right” in 2019? https://t.co/mudQnRLQHI
