News Story of the Day: Let the new front of the U.S.-China trade war commence!
President Donald Trump’s 25 percent tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese imports will go into effect today. What this means for the trade discussions remains unclear, but we do know that American consumers will pay the price as they always do when some trade spat begins.
One of the latest rounds of trade talks finished on Thursday, but new meetings are already being planned.
President Trump doesn’t think it’s necessary to “rush” through a new trade agreement.
“The U.S. only sells China approximately 100 Billion Dollars of goods & products, a very big imbalance. With the over 100 Billion Dollars in Tariffs that we take in, we will buy agricultural products from our Great Farmers, in larger amounts than China ever did, and ship it to poor & starving countries in the form of humanitarian assistance. We have lost 500 Billion Dollars a year, for many years, on Crazy Trade with China. NO MORE!”
Chart of the Day: A lot has been said about the West’s plummeting birth rates, depending on foreigners to have babies and contribute to the entitlement system that is on the brink of collapse. But just what is the birth rate like in every country anyway? Here is an Axios chart (as you can tell it is on a downward trend everywhere!):
Illustration of the Day: Gilead has agreed to donate Truvada, a prescription medication used to reduce the risk of HIV infection. It costs $20,000 per year, but Gilead will hand out the drug to 200,000 people. It’s part of the Trump administration’s aim to wipe out HIV by 2030. Cue the outrage!
Quote of the Day: Wal-Mart is now no longer the company to be angry over. Nope. Now it’s time to get outraged by dollar stores.
From Mark Perry of the American Enterprise Institute:
The new retail bogeyman/hobgoblin is no longer Walmart for saving its customers millions of dollars with “everyday low prices.” It’s now the 30,000 dollar stores in the US that are saving customers millions of dollars with prices below even evil Walmart’s, and those low prices are just too much to take for some local communities.
And the politicians in North Tulsa are fed up, and they have had enough of the rock-bottom prices and the cost savings that dollar stores are bringing to their local community and the anointed political busybodies have found a political solution. They’re putting a stop to the possibility of even more low prices in the future by passing legislation so that no new dollar stores can open up in north Tulsa. Then the political busybodies in New Orleans, north St. Louis, and Haskins, Ohio heard about the “Tulsa solution to low prices” and they contacted Tulsa councilwoman Vanessa “Czarina” Hall-Harper, the sponsor of the city’s dollar store ban, because those communities also think they have too many low prices at too many dollar stores. The political busybodies in Mesquite City, Texas, followed suit and passed Tulsa-style dollar store restrictions right away.
Tweet of the Day: One of the main problems of anti-Semitism in the United States are the double standards. The left will come out against anti-Semitism when it is carried out by some odious white supremacist. But when the anti-Semitism is perpetrated by a minority, then the left disregards it. Case in point, this clip:
OUTRAGEOUS: Orthodox Jew brutally attacked by anti-Semite in Williamsburg in New York.
The rise in #Antisemitism should shake all of us. It’s a virus we must fight. pic.twitter.com/ZdxYIieOZT

Video of the Day: The Counterfeit News Network isn’t just fake news, it’s weird. Want proof? Here is a leftist guest who suggests that women are not getting pregnant with human beings inside the womb! What’s worse is that Chris Cuomo doesn’t even correct, choosing to instead attack former Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA).
