President Donald Trump does an admirable job slamming the neoconservatives, lamenting on the military-industrial complex, and bashing the previous administrations for starting and prolonging these wars. But then he brings the likes of Mike Pompeo and John Bolton into his administration.
What the heck is he doing?
Speaking in an interview with the Fox News Channel over the weekend, President Trump did something no modern president has done in recent memory: Rail against the MIC.
Here is something that everyone knows: the MIC, the neocons, the neoliberals, the Democrats, and the RINOs they all want war and they want to stay forever. Finally, though, a sitting president admitted as much.
“Well, I’m the one that talks about these wars that are 19 years, and people are just there, and don’t kid yourself, you do have a military-industrial complex. They do like war. You know, in Syria, with the caliphate, so I wipe out 100 percent of the caliphate. … I said I want to bring our troops back home. The place went crazy. You have people here in Washington, they never want to leave,” Trump said.
“I said, you know what I’ll do, I’ll leave a couple hundred soldiers behind, but if it was up to them, they‘d bring thousands of soldiers in. Someday people will explain it, but you do have a group, and they call it the military-industrial complex. They never want to leave. They always want to fight.”
Here is the clip:
While it is great that he is talking about this, it would be even better if he followed through by not threatening military conflict, starting wars, and crippling nations with sanctions.
Should Trump win another term, he should tap Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) as his Defense Secretary!
