Legendary economist Murray Rothbard was famous for working with a whole host of organizations and movements if they supported a cause he did.
So, for example, if the communists were anti-war, then Rothbard would attend these meetings and give speeches. Of course, Rothbard would not be sympathetic toward communism, but to a particular issue like opposing war.
Former Representative Ron Paul (R-TX) did something similar in Congress. On a variety of issues, he would partner with everyone from Alan Grayson to Bernie Sanders to Barney Frank. He never compromised and abandoned a principle to achieve legislative victory.
Well, the Koch brothers are taking a page out of the Murray handbook.
According to Breitbart, the Koch-funded Americans for Prosperity will support elected officials, including Democrats, who support free trade and amnesty for illegal immigrants and oppose tariffs, economic nationalism, and less immigration.
From the group:
Four new issue specific Political Action Committees (PACs) will be created to make contributions directly to candidates. We know that candidates will seldom agree with Americans for Prosperity on every issue. But for those who do the politically difficult job of leading on a critical issue, these issue specific PACs will make it clear why millions of Americans support them on that issue, even if they have principled disagreements on others. The PACs, which will launch in the coming weeks as new entities working with our broader community, are: Uniting for Economic Opportunity, Uniting for Free Expression, Uniting for Free Trade, and Uniting for Immigration Reform.
This will certainly irk Republicans, who, according to the polls, support tariffs and want to reduce legal and illegal immigration, notes the website.
What happened to Republicans who used to love free trade and hate trade barriers like tariffs?
