Well, the Democratic primary season is kicking off this week. And it should be a predictable circus without any substance to the debates or the interviews.
The first two debates are taking place on June 26 and June 27. The debate happening on Wednesday is considered the second-tier because it has all the candidates, barring Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), polling at a percent or less. The second one is the primetime with the big names, such as Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders, and the list goes on.
So, with the debates on the horizon, let’s make some predictions:
1. Every candidate will try to outdo each other on the free stuff: free healthcare, free education, free money, trillions of dollars of new spending, and more goodies from the government.
2. All the candidates will just complain and complain and complain about President Donald Trump.
3. The candidates will use various political cliches, primarily “let’s have that conversation,” “the only poll that matters is on election day,” and “I grew up poor, so I understand better than anyone about [insert here].”
4. Various leftist buzzwords will be used: sexism, racism, white supremacy (maybe?), homophobia, Islamophobia.
5. Fake news. The biggest one will be President Trump’s remarks about Charlottesville. At least one candidate will accuse Trump of defending the neo-Nazis without citing the entire comment, which is (emphasis ours):
“You had people in that group who were there to protest the taking down, of to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of the park from Robert E. Lee to another name.
I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally – but you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists, okay?”
How do you think the debates will pan out? What are your predictions?
