It was over before it even began.
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), who threatened to use nukes on law-abiding gun owners and made everyone cringe in the Democratic debate with some lame diaper joke, is reportedly dropping out of the 2020 race, making him the first candidate to do so.
According to ABC 7, Swalwell will hold a news conference on Monday at 4 p.m. EST in Dublin, California where he will suspend his campaign for president. This was widely expected after he canceled several campaign events in the last week.
He has hardly registered in any polling, and it was unlikely he was going to qualify for the second debate.
The Daily Wire also writes:
Swalwell’s campaign never really took off, and his inauthenticity shadowed him in the months after he announced. For example, at the end of May, Swalwell tweeted a video where he claimed he knew “when to pass the mic” to a woman.
“I may be ‘another white guy,’ but I know where there are gaps in my knowledge or my experience and I know when to pass the mic.”
