The word patriarchy is defined as “a system of society or government in which the father or eldest male is head of the family and descent is traced through the male line.”
That’s all you ever hear from feminists: Society is being run by the patriarchy and the men are suppressing women.
Yes, there are many people who believe that nonsense and exist in society. They even go to the supermarket and pick up groceries.
But did you know that patriarchy has nothing to do with gender now?
According to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), the patriarchy can include women, too. But then doesn’t this negate the whole man-hating thing from feminists?
Confusion. Confusion.
So, this revision to the definition came after she decried the term “catfight” that ostensibly only the GOP uses.
She tweeted:
“Catfight” is the sexist term Republicans use when two adult women happen to disagree with each other.
The reason they find it so novel &exciting is bc the GOP haven’t elected enough women themselves to see that it can, in fact, be a normal occurrence in a functioning democracy.
When a Fox News contributor intervened and pointed out the faulty logic, AOC replied:
Just when you think all hope is lost, we get a Fox News contributor to realize that patriarchy has no gender. (Being a woman does not mean you’re immune from being bad to women or genderqueer people. Just like being a man doesn’t mean you don’t have a role in the movement for gender equity! We are all in this together.)
Of course, AOC likely thinks that this only entails conservative women because leftist women can never be the patriarchy.
Speaking of catfight…
