Earlier this week, President Donald Trump made the right move on Iran by making Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) his emissary to Iran. While the rest of his administration has been trying to engage in a war with Tehran, the senator has been the sane voice in this discussion.
Unfortunately, because the media is starving for a war, everyone is upset that the non-interventionist has become the president’s right-hand man on the Iran file.
Case in point, The Hill‘s description of Senator Paul.
Here is how the website described Paul when talking about the developments (emphasis ours):
Politico first reported Wednesday that Paul, a staunch isolationist, proposed meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to try to restart negotiations on the White House’s behalf and that Trump approved.
This is fake news at its finest.
Because Paul isn’t adamant about going to war with other countries and favors diplomacy over combat that makes him an isolationist!
That’s hilarious.
The great Daniel McAdams had a superb response on Twitter:
Here’s why journalists are looked upon so negatively. This writer claims to have gone to journalism school yet fails Journalism 101: writing blatant falsehoods and editorializing in a news piece. @RandPaul – a “staunch isolationist”? @talstales you are either inept or a liar. pic.twitter.com/mIMxxrBqXW

This is similar to how his father, Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX), was treated by the press throughout the 2008 and 2012 elections. They kept repeating the fake news that Dr. Paul was an isolationist when it was Paul who always encouraged trade, travel, and talking to war.
Here is just one example:
Despite what you think of Trump, this is why he should at least garner some support for his hostility toward the CNNs and Washington Posts of the world.
