Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) has been in hot water for the last few days after the media reported that the libertarian-leaning Republican “blocked” new spending for the 9/11 fund that was heavily promoted by Jon Stewart (SEE: Random Friday: Rand Paul and 9/11 fund, human history, #IceBae).
Now, it is political suicide on the national stage to oppose this type of legislation. But it seems the senator is taking a principled position on this issue: Fund it by taking money from somewhere else in the budget.
Don’t tell that to the establishment, though.
Paul appeared on Fox News to discuss what is really happening and how Stewart is just “part of the left-wing mob.”
Here is the main part of the interview:
“His name-calling just sort of exposes him as a left-winger part of the left-wing mob that really isn’t using his brain and is willing to call people names. It’s really kind of disgusting because, see, he pretended for years when he was on his comedy show to be somebody who could see both sides and see through the BS on both sides. Well, now he is the BS. The BS meters through the roof when you see him calling people names calling people an abomination when I’m asking something very reasonable that an amendment be included to consider whether we should pay for this for taking money somewhere else in the budget doesn’t actually.”
Here is the entire interview:
Good for Senator Paul for sticking to his values, not capitulating to the outrage mob.
