News Story of the Day: Last week, the Treasury Department announced it would be issuing 20-year bonds sometime over the next few months to help fund the federal government’s $1 trillion budget deficit. A lot of questions have gone unanswered. The only thing we know at this time, according to financial markets, is that there is a lot of consumer interest.
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin revealed that the 20-year note will slightly extend the average maturity, which is currently at around 70 months. He refrained from speculating by how much.
He also confirmed that ultra-long bonds (30-, 50-, and 100-year Treasurys) are not happening anytime soon.
Chart of the Day: Speaking of the average maturity, here is a great Bloomberg chart on the subject:

Quote of the Day: It is always good to go back once in a while and read what the greats wrote. This time, it is the eminent Thomas Sowell and his opinion on climate change. He stated:
“Would you bet your paycheck on a weather forecast for tomorrow? If not, then why should this country bet billions on global warming predictions that have even less foundation?”
Indeed. Just check this out: A green failure? Wind turbines may cause regional warming, study says
Tweet of the Day: Antifa is comprised of a bunch of scumbags. Scott Presler just tweeted that he heard that Antifa is planning to protest his trash cleanup event in Portland, Oregan. Imagine being so stupid that you protest someone picking up trash all because he supports President Donald Trump. Yeesh.
Just received word that Antifa is planning to protest our cleanup in Portland, Oregon.
I never imagined, as an adult, I’d see the day that I was protested for picking up trash.
We are not going to let threats of domestic terrorism stop us from doing the right thing.
Love wins.

Video of the Day: Will robots cause mass global unemployment? That was the question recently debated at the SOHO Forum between Martin Ford and Antony Sammeroff. It was an interesting discussion, but typically it is best to lean on the side of Tom Woods’ opinion on this issue (SEE: Are Robots Bad for Humans? The Good News They’re Not Telling You).
