What is Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) prattling on about now?
Well, apparently she seems opposed to the United States economy reopening. Or, if the market does open up again in the wake of the Wuhan Coronavirus pandemic, she doesn’t think Americans should return to 70-hour workweeks.
“When we talk about this idea of ‘reopening society’ you know, only in America does the president, when the president tweets about liberation, does he mean go back to work,” she said in an interview with Vice TV on Wednesday. “When we have this discussion about going back or reopening, I think a lot people should just say ‘no, we’re not going back to that.’
“We’re not going back to working 70-hour weeks just so that we can put food on the table and not even feel any sort of semblance of security in our lives.”
Huh?
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average workweek is a little more than 34 hours. And, over the last century, the workweek has cratered from around 65 hours to where we are today.
This is as bad as when she said the unemployment rate is low because everyone is working two jobs.
AOC only appears on media outlets that agree with her brand of socialism and refuse to point out her inaccurate statements. If she were to regularly appear on other programs, she would be called out for her nonsense.
