You know you have a bad case of Trump Derangement Syndrome when you get triggered by an eight-year-old tweet.
In 2012, Kayleigh McEnany, who now serves as the press secretary in the White House, tweeted:
“FUN FACT: @dominos is wayyyy better than any NYC pizza.”
Domino’s Pizza responded at the time:
“@kayleighmcenany That’s one heck of a compliment! Thanks for the love! #WEAPPRECIATEIT!”
Well, this perturbed CNN contributor and political consultant Rick Wilson. He tweeted:
You just killed your brand. #ETTD https://t.co/NdGee87xvH
— Rick Wilson (@TheRickWilson) June 16, 2020
“You just killed your brand. #ETTD”
Thankfully, Domino’s is not apologizing for the tweet. Instead, the company’s Twitter team tweeted some common sense:
“Welp. It’s unfortunate that thanking a customer for a compliment back in 2012 would be viewed as political. Guess that’s 2020 for ya.”
Indeed. Wilson is the same guy who wanted Melania Trump to #BeInfected with the coronavirus.
Perhaps this is the latest strategy among the Cancel Culture Crusaders: Dig through tweets from years ago and be outraged. Who knows?
How embarrassing for both Wilson and CNN for hiring such a person.
