Here is something that has fail written all over it.
Yelp announced that it is installing a new consumer alert as part of the company’s efforts to stand against racism.
According to the website, “when a business gains attention for reports of racist conduct, Yelp will place a new Business Accused of Racist Behavior Alert” on the company’s Yelp page, as well as a news article for users to learn more.
Here is what the alert would look like:
What a stupid idea.
The company concluded in its blog post:
“Increasingly, consumers across the U.S. are voting with their dollars by supporting businesses that align with their values. As always, we continue to evaluate how we can best use our platform to build a better, more equitable and inclusive environment where consumers and businesses can interact safely and fully informed.”
With too many people oversensitive and thinking that everything is racist, the system is going to inevitably be abused. This is going to destroy the livelihood of a lot of businesses by those who want to seek revenge or BLM folks who think they are enacting social justice by targeting white-owned businesses.
Yelp barely budged on the news, dipping 0.5% on Thursday.
JRATT says
Once this so called racism reporting starts, they will be the first businesses that I will be supporting, unless, I have first hand experience of the so called racism. Everyone should do the same.
