In one of those what the hell? moments, here is an interesting story coming out of the Trump administration.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Michael Caputo, assistant secretary of public affairs in the Department of Health and Human Services, proposed getting Santa Claus performs to promote the benefits of a coronavirus vaccine. In exchange, Santas would receive early vaccine access before the general public.
More from the newspaper:
“The idea had buy-in from top White House advisers. In a coronavirus task force meeting during the summer, senior Trump adviser Jared Kushner discussed how officials would get influencers to do public-service announcements encouraging people to wear masks and social distance, according to the former White House official, who was in attendance.”
The department confirmed on Friday that he plan would be scrapped.
Weird.
