Sorry, Canadians, you will not be immune to price inflation either, thanks to the coronavirus and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s free-spending ways.
According to Canada’s Food Price Report 2021 that was released on Tuesday, the average Canadian family will pay up to an additional $695 for food next year.
Bread, meat, and vegetable prices are projected to increase three to five percent and will lead the overall food inflation jump.
In total, the average family of will be spending just short of $14,000 in groceries in 2021.
Ostensibly, there is also a gender gap for how much men and women pay for groceries. From The Canadian Press:
While it continues to provide the estimated cost of feeding a family of four, the report also shows that a man aged 31 to 50 can expect to pay $169 more for food next year, while a woman of the same age can expect to pay $152 more.
Uh, feminists?
Anyway, life is about to get more expensive in not only Canada but around the world.
