Half of America’s millennials and Generation Z have romanticized socialism, believing that it is an ideology of equity, justice, and something for nothing. They could afford this ideal portrayal of an odious philosophy without any skin in the game or first-hand experience – until now. Over the last nine months, the United States and many other countries have experimented with the vile concept, and the results have not been pretty. Did the coronavirus global health pandemic finally shatter young people’s propensity to advocate a system responsible for approximately 100 million deaths?
Socialism Distancing
The U.S. has been fed an appetizer of socialism during the coronavirus public health crisis. Its ingredients included mass hysteria, iniquitous political leaders, and mendacious bureaucrats.
Small businesses have been shut down, and manufacturing industries dictated to. Practically speaking, whole populations have been placed under house arrest. The cost of goods and services we need is surging. Citizens have willingly surrendered their liberties and common sense out of fear over a respiratory illness. Politicians have exploited their trepidation by usurping greater powers that they will never concede in the post-coronavirus world. COVID-19 cultists have been exposed as hypocrites. Government is now the apotheosis, imposing its set of commandments – “Thou shalt not question the state” and “Thou shalt be jabbed no matter the adverse side effects” – on the public.
At least the U.S. has eradicated the virus, right? It is turning out that all these efforts, from mask mandates to suspending life, are in vain, with 100,000-plus confirmed cases and 1,000 deaths per day.
But the disastrous trends are not the fault of the divine civil servants and their almighty wisdom. It is your coffin of sloth and ignorance that has led to the outbreak’s exacerbation. It is the rubes’ fault for not obeying their overlords. They say this forces them to lock down the city or state even harder than before. Indeed, the coronavirus has been a gateway drug to statism, emboldening big government acolytes to espouse phrases that are marketed as patriotic, such as “stay home and save lives” and “wear your mask.” Of course, these are null and void if you are protesting a progressive cause or celebrating Joe Biden’s alleged 2020 presidential victory.
The globalists have also been fortified throughout the pandemic, amplifying their Marxist implementation crusade under the mask of Listen to the Science (TM). Whether it is fighting climate change or solving inequity, the globalists have been spearheading their control and enslavement blitzkrieg. Remember, the World Economic Forum told you that you would be happy giving up everything that made you, well, happy in the first place.
Parasites And Authoritarianism
In May 2013, a study was published that linked the higher prevalence of infectious diseases with the greater odds of instituting a totalitarian state.
Researchers Damian R. Murray, Mark Schaller, and Peter Suedfeld based their study on the parasite-stress theory, which dictates that species’ encounters with diseases and parasites shape their development. The study authors stated that governments and individuals with authoritarian tendencies will become more conformist, prefer obedience in others, and disapprove of individuals who do not conform. They noted in their research:
“Because many disease-causing parasites are invisible, and their actions mysterious, disease control has historically depended substantially on adherence to ritualized behavioral practices that reduced infection risk. Individuals who openly dissented from, or simply failed to conform to, these behavioral traditions therefore posed a health threat to self and others.”
As you are witnessing today, the authoritarian mindset in the middle of an outbreak is to suppress the people’s free movement and ideas, instituting strict rules on what you can and cannot do. This is one of the chief tenets behind socialism: disinfecting society and cleansing minds.
Will COVID-19 spawn a generation of mini-Maos in the United States? Or has the coronavirus pandemic already tapped into the spirit of Karenism and enabled folks to blame, name, and shame?
Getting Hammered And Sick(Led)
This past fall, the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation (VOC) published its annual study regarding the nation’s attitudes and opinions toward economic and political philosophies, namely capitalism and socialism. This year, it found that nearly half of millennials and Gen Zers approved of the lethal doctrine championed by Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong, Pol Pot, and Robert Mugabe. And this has been a concerning trend for years, with a growing number of young people thinking that this school of thought is the solution to our problems. Should this be chalked up to immaturity? Perhaps the antidote to endorsing socialism is life, experience, and paying taxes to the IRS.
