Vice President Kamala Harris was in El Paso, Texas on Friday as part of efforts to resolve the border crisis.
When asked why right now was the time to make her first trip to the border. Harris lashed out: “It’s not my first trip, I’ve been to the border many times.”
As a senator, this might be true. But not as the vice president.
She continued:
“Because as I’ve long said, I said back in March I was going to come to the border so this is not a new plan, but the reality of it is we have to deal with the causes and we have to deal with the effects.”
Not true.
Her spokesperson, Symone Sanders, told reporters in March: “I will just reiterate that the vice president is not doing the border.”
Instead, Harris’ role as a border czar was to understand the “root causes” of the border crisis and nothing more.
Evidently, she only visited the region because former President Donald Trump plans to tour the area with Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX).
