Despite a 90 percent vaccination rate in the province of Ontario, Premier Doug Ford has placed half of the country’s population on lockdown.
Schools have gone online, the movie theaters are closed, and retail settings are at 50 percent capacity.
But everyone is blaming the unvaccinated.
Is it the fault of the unvaxxed?
Not quite.
According to data from the Ministry of Health, the number of vaccinated (full or partially) people are driving up hospitalizations and ICUs.
Here is a look at the cases:
Hospital
- Fully vaccinated: 1,327
- Partially: 100
- Unvaccinated: 441
ICU
- Fully vaccinated: 106
- Partially: 17
- Unvaccinated: 119
Here is a visual representation too:
The vaxxed might be holier than thou, but they are contributing to the problem, too.
Remember, the unvaxxed have been barred from most places in Ontario, except pretty much supermarkets and stores, where spread is already minimal. It is the vaccinated who are sitting in restaurants, going to the gym, and attending showings of the latest box office picture.
