Hurricane Ian has made landfall.
The images being shared on Twitter are devastating. Houses are being torn apart, homes are being flooded, and even sharks are swimming on land. In the end, it could become one of the most expensive hurricanes in U.S. history.
The economic costs of Hurricane Ian could hit as much as $70 billion by the end of it all.
If accurate, it would be the sixth-most expensive hurricane on record.
Of course, hurricanes have other broader costs, from higher food prices to job losses.
But do not tell this to those who think these types of events are terrific for the economy.
Cough. Broken Window Fallacy. Cough.
