Sorry, hypochondriacs, Americans don’t care about the coronavirus pandemic anymore.
According to a new Gallup poll, just 28 percent of Americans are still worried about COVID-19. This is the lowest measurement since the summer of 2021.
Moreover, 78 percent think the pandemic is “over,” a new high. This has most survey respondents agreeing that the public should “lead their normal lives as much as possible and avoid interruptions to work and business.”
Only a small number of Americans are avoiding large crowds, avoiding public places, avoiding public gatherings, and avoiding public transportation. The only thing that Americans seem to be doing is wearing a face mask (40 percent).
The polling firm noted:
Though most Americans do not go as far as saying the pandemic is “over,” about six in 10 are no longer making any attempt at social distancing. Even greater numbers advise that healthy adults lead as normal lives as possible. Meanwhile, concerns about catching COVID-19 are at a relative low point.
This collective comfort was 2 ½ years in the making, but Americans arrived at it fitfully after setbacks due to new variants that reignited concern, causing many to reconsider social distancing practices at least temporarily. New variants are sure to emerge in the winter and will test Americans’ more relaxed perspective.
This news should outrage Klaus Schwab and leftists who wear three masks in their automobiles alone.
