But there is another layer to this egg-citing story: the surging cost of diesel and animal feed.
In the beef industry, prices have cratered because farmers have been killing off their cattle prematurely since they cannot afford or do not possess enough water and feed.
Well, the same thing is ostensibly happening in the egg sector: farmers can no longer afford to produce eggs.
