The U.S. government will run out of money to fund Ukraine without more action by Congress.
Writing in a letter to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young wrote that the United States will run out of cash to give to Kyiv in three weeks.
“I want to be clear: without congressional action, by the end of the year we will run out of resources to procure more weapons and equipment for Ukraine and to provide equipment from U.S. military stocks,” she said. “There is no magical pot of funding available to meet this moment. We are out of money—and nearly out of time.”
She added that the sudden end of funding would “kneecap” Ukraine.
“Cutting off the flow of U.S. weapons and equipment will kneecap Ukraine on the battlefield, not only putting at risk the gains Ukraine has made, but increasing the likelihood of Russian military victories,” Young wrote.
As the war appears to be lost, and Israel becomes the focal point, there is a clarion call in the establishment to head to the negotiating table.
Remember, a year ago, when many skeptics advocated this strategy, you would be labeled a Russian agent and Putin puppet.
