New video looks at how to end poverty, let nations succeed

The Fund for American Studies published a new video that looks at the secret to ending poverty all over the world and to allow nations to succeed. Since May Day has come and gone, it’s a good time to look at how government is the problem and capitalism and free markets are the solution to the ailments of society.

The near four-minute video analyzed how a nation rose from poverty to prosperity within just a few generations. Indeed, it wasn’t because of government, a bureaucrat or a public official wanting to get taxes, impose regulations and turn on the printing press. Instead, it was the freedom to produce goods and services, the use of the free market and the acceptance of capitalism.

The website also features several well-known books that highlight economic freedom and its success, including Henry Hazlitt’s “Economics in One Lesson” (see our review), Milton Friedman’s “Free to Choose,” Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell and “The Road to Serfdom” by F.A. Hayek.

The group has published similar videos in the past that looked at what life would be without capitalism and if people would give up the Internet for $1 million. The video can be found below and be sure to peruse the TFAS website for more information about the work it does.
