Former Republican Arkansas Governor and 2008 presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has officially declared his candidacy for president. Huckabee will join a long chorus of establishment Republicans vying for a seat in the Oval Office, including Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz and the like. Huckabee had his 15 minutes of fame during the 2008 election, but let’s not forget how Ron Paul took down Huckabee during a Fox News debate.
The two men were discussing the Iraq War and Paul asked the question regarding Iraq: “What do we have to pay to save face?” He cited the lives lost and how the U.S. has dug a hole for itself because of its foreign policy. Huckabee could only say “honor” repeatedly during his oration about the war.
It’s interesting how it has been eight years since that debate but the U.S. is still bogged down in Iraq, Afghanistan and other Middle Eastern countries. Nothing much has changed since that debate, except al-Qaeda is now an ally and ISIS is the primary enemy.
