Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz has won the state of Iowa, the same state that picked Rick Santorum in 2012 and Mike Huckabee in 2008. Donald Trump came in second place, followed by Florida Senator Marco Rubio.
For whatever reason, there are many in the media claiming that Donald Trump’s campaign is finished. Since he came in second place in the first voting state of the primary season, his push for the presidency is over.
At least the media showed the second place holder this time. In 2012, Ron Paul was second, but they completely bypassed him and talked about the candidate who got third place.
A look at the latest polls shows Trump is maintaining double-digit leads in New Hampshire, South Carolina and nationally. The numbers below show just how well Trump is doing, even if he did lose Iowa (via Real Clear Politics).
So, overall, Trump has about one-third of the support, and perhaps with other candidates soon to drop out, those supporters will head over to the Trump camp.
It’s a dirty business, but hey: at least they’re not tossing coins to decide winners, like a certain president-in-waiting.
