For the last couple of years, critics of the Obama administration’s foreign policy have often made the case that the United States government is indirectly funding ISIS. On the campaign trail, even Donald Trump made this accusation, though using the wrong verbiage. He and many others were laughed at for even making the suggestion.
But now a Democrat in Congress has issued a superb tweet that suggests she understands what the nation’s foreign policy is really about.
Tulsi Gabbard, a Hawaiian Democratic Congresswoman, sent out a tweet on Saturday to criticize the government’s funding and arming of al-Qaeda and ISIS. Here is the tweet:
If you or I gave money, weapons or support to al-Qaeda or ISIS, we would be thrown in jail. Why does our gov get a free pass on this?

“If you or I gave money, weapons or support to al-Qaeda or ISIS, we would be thrown in jail. Why does our gov get a free pass on this?”
A day later, she sent out another tweet on the same issue:
We must prohibit taxpayer dollars from being used to provide weapons/support to al Qaeda, ISIS & other terrorist groups. Period.

“We must prohibit taxpayer dollars from being used to provide weapons/support to al Qaeda, ISIS & other terrorist groups. Period.”
Does Congress have another Ron Paul non-interventionist on its hands? Likely not, says Robert Wenzel of Economic Policy Journal and Target Liberty. He writes:
“Don’t get sucked in by the pretty face. She is not anti-war. She wants to fight Middle East terrorists real bad. She is more logical than most U.S. Empire killers but she is not against the killing. Just more focused killing.”
Gabbard has met with Donald Trump and has said that she is pleased Trump is talking about these issues, which has been rare coming from a president. Whether or not Trump will make a member of his cabinet remains to be seen.
