If you see it, tax it.
That’s the motto nearly all lawmakers have, especially those working in California, the home to virtue signalling Hollywood, residents who flee the state because of taxes, and perverts.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, state regulators will soon propose charging cellphone users a text messaging fee, aimed at paying for programs that make phone service cheaper to low-income residents.
It is unclear at this point how much the fee would cost, but reports say it would be a flat surcharge per customer, rather than a vague fee at the bottom of your bill or a fee per text.
What’s worse is that the tax would be retroactive for five years. So, if you had a cellphone plan in 2014, then be sure to pay fork over a levy since then.
Experts estimate that the fee would cost consumers at least $44.5 million a year. If you factor in the retroactive aspect, then it would total $220 million.
No wonder why California is the laughing stock of the country.
