Ahead of President Joe Biden will address the nation soon regarding his plans to fight the resurgence of COVID-19 cases.
According to early reports, President Biden will announce that all employers with 100 or more employees will be mandated to require employees to get coronavirus vaccines or require testing at least once per week.
Employees will also have paid time off.
It is expected that this will apply to more than 80 million workers in the private sector.
Reports also suggest that Biden will require all federal employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Moreover, there will be new vaccine requirements for private companies that get government contracts
The executive order will be signed on Thursday.
“He’s going to speak directly to vaccinated people and their frustration, and he wants them to hear how we’re going to build on what we’ve done to date to get the virus under control and to return to some version of normal in this country,” Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters.
The U.S. currently has approximately 160,000 new infections per day, driven primarily by the Delta variant.
